Our Facilities
From its beginning, the Church had established a special building fund and looked repeatedly at various land possibilities, existing buildings or buildings that could be moved for a permanent Church facility. All doors remained closed for the Church’s relocation until December 1986, when the congregation was approached with a gift of one acre and the opportunity to purchase an additional two acres of land where they could build their first permanent facility. The purchase, however, needed to be finalized in a week. The Lord had opened a door and the purchase was made. The congregation recommitted themselves to moving ahead and building on the purchased property; about the same time, the meeting space in the Carousel Shopping Center became unavailable to the Church. Alternatives for immediate relocation were investigated; the decision was made to rent from the First Christian Church, with Sunday worship services to be held before their regular services. Services began at First Christian on January 18, 1987.
The three-acre property was completely paid for in May 1988. Twelve members took a giant leap of faith, voting unanimously to begin building. The group was asked to determine how they would each increase their giving to help pay for the building; when the figures were totaled, it was exactly what was needed for the monthly payments! God had indeed blessed this little congregation with vision, property and provision, increasing their faith substantially. Groundbreaking for the new building was held on Resurrection Sunday 1990.
The Lord also blessed the congregation with much loving labor and talent donated by church members, including a building inspector, owner of a trucking firm and an electrician; sod, trees and pews were also donated. With many gifts to the growing building fund and $160,000 borrowed from Christian Investors, a lovely and very usable 5,600 square foot facility was completed by the end of the summer and Sunday services began in the new building on November 4, 1990. The congregation was told, "You build it and the people will come." And come they did!
On June 25, 1995 an additional $150,000 was borrowed from Christian Investors for Phase Two of the Church’s building plan. A 5,600 square foot addition was completed, again with many financial gifts and much love and labor from its members and others, and the congregation moved into their expanded space on February 23, 1997. This addition currently provides a gymnasium and multipurpose meeting space for many activities, kitchen and youth rooms as well as allowing the lower level of the original structure to be divided into permanent classroom space. Phase Three of the building plan will be a larger sanctuary extending to the south side of the current facility. We await the Lord’s leading for when work will begin on this addition.
